You see, the eight classes collecting pennies were going to tally their totals every day. This could have been an administrative nightmare for my tenth graders. But we used Excel 2000's Spreadsheet Component and made our HTML worksheet interactive!
Interactive? Isn't that just an overused word these days?
What would you call this, then? When the collection classes wanted to add their penny counts for the day, they simply viewed the interactive spreadsheet in their browser, added their numbers, and calculated a new grand total for the fundraiser. All of this took place LIVE on the web!
My students also added a Chart Component to their Excel worksheet. This meant the chart was automatically updated every time the collection classes entered new totals into the web spreadsheet.
