Quick. What does your home and a Web page have in common? Give up? An address, of course. You know if you're going to visit your friends at their home, you need their address. Same goes with a web page. In techno-speak, the address for a Web page is called the URL. No, no...it's not pronounced earl. Just say the letters, U-R-L.

URLs are displayed in the Address bar

If you have the URL for a Web page and want to visit it:

  1. Click on the white space in IE4's Address bar.

  2. Type the URL of the page. You don't need to type http:// because IE4 automatically includes it.

  3. Press the Enter key on your keyboard.
