A BLURB ON gRAFFITI aRT

The words, messages and pictures spray-painted on walls and buildings in our city neighbourhoods are referred to as "Graffiti". Once considered the work of vandals, graffiti has evolved into an elaborate and colourful avenue of self-expression. It is now appreciated by many people as a form of urban art.

Despite the growing popularity of graffiti, it is still illegal to paint on someone else's property without their permission. But this doesn't mean that you can't experience the thrill of producing your own graffiti art. Using the paint tools of a computer drawing program, you can create spray-can art just as colourful and spectacular as the real thing. Plus, you won't have to worry about getting caught in the act. As far as we know, painting on a computer wall is completely legal.

In this lesson, we will show you how to use the various paint tools in Paint Shop Pro to create your own graffiti masterpiece. You are welcome to follow the same steps we have used, or you may use this lesson to learn the characteristics unique to each tool, then apply them to your graffiti as you see fit. We hope that in either case, you will experiment with the paint tools and compose your own wild and fanciful piece of urban art.
